Jürgen von der Mark

(Oenologist / Master of Wine)

I was born in 1961 – a total freak in a wine-free family. I lost my oenological virginity to a bottle of 1973 Oppenheimer Sackträger Morio-Muskat Kabinett at the tender age of 14. Wild years followed filled with one-night-stands, short affairs, but also long-term relationships with various wines.

Today I live in Baden and am happily married with German Riesling and Pinot Noir vines. I have been involved in a hot affair with Syrah from the northern Rhone since 1998. With my first love, Bordeaux, I remain in close platonic relationship. I enjoy deep and meaningful conversations with several wines from other regions.
